Prof. Dr. Marcel Mudrich

At the beginning of April, Dr. Marcel Mudrich took over the professorship for Molecular Quantum Physics with Synchrotron Radiation. He studied physics at the University of Heidelberg and completed his doctorate at the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics. After holding positions in Orsay, Bielefeld and Freiburg, where he habilitated in 2009 on the topic of "Quantum dynamics of cold molecules and Rydberg atoms: from spectroscopy to reaction dynamics", he has been Associate Professor at Aarhus University, Denmark, since 2017. His research covers a wide range of topics in atomic, molecular and cluster physics, including spectroscopy of pure and doped helium nanodroplets and water clusters with synchrotron radiation and femtosecond lasers.
At the University of Kassel, he plans to further develop laser- and accelerator-based spectroscopy of molecules and nano-clusters, particularly in the direction of time-resolved and imaging methods. Through his close connection to the Collaborative Research Center ELCH, he hopes to provide new impetus for molecular quantum physics.
