Cuba Excursion Evening: Insights and impressions from the field of architecture, city, economy

We kindly invite you to our Cuba Excursion Evening!

Together, we would like to reflect on this year’s excursion to Cuba, a journey shaped by the ongoing collaboration between ASL and UCLV (Universidad Central “Marta Abreu” de Las Villas)

With photos and some drinks, we look forward to sharing and discussing insights from the inspiring university workshop at UCLV, together with Professor Cecilia Valdés Benítez and her students. We had the opportunity to accompany them in their analysis of the neighborhoods Pollera, Alevines, and Zona Mango in Santa Clara. The city’s urban planning office commissioned the students to work and analyze these areas in order to gather ideas for enhancing the living conditions of the residents.

We will also share insights from our visit to Kassel Street, tracing the footsteps of the Microbrigadas that were co-built in the 1990s by students from Kassel in Santa Clara, as well as our experiences in Havana’s public spaces and the self-built Microbrigadas housing project started in the 1970s, which was promoted by the revolution in Alamar, Havana.

36 students from both universities took part.

Looking forward to see you there,
best wishes,

ACE Team
