English and American Studies / Anglistik und Amerikanistik (Bachelor)

In a globally oriented working world, it is becoming increasingly important to have a good command of the English language. The Bachelor's degree course in English and American Studies focuses not only on the confident use of the language, but also on the culture, literature and history of Great Britain and/or America.

The study of English and American Studies encompasses regional and cultural studies as well as linguistics and literary studies. Language practice is just as important, which is why courses are generally held in English, which requires very good language skills. A semester abroad in an English-speaking country is compulsory. The course is also combined with a minor subject.

If you enjoy speaking English and are also interested in other cultures, you have the best prerequisites for the course. Communication skills and a disciplined willingness to learn are also required. Without a language certificate - for example a certificate from an internationally recognized language test - admission to the course is not possible. Language certificates are also required for the minor subjects French or Spanish.
